Anonymous asked: With "Mara Dyer", Did you write certain scenes as they came to you and then just wrote around them? Or did you start at the very beginning and just work your way to the end?
A bit of both, actually. When I first started the book, I started at the “beginning” of the story and kept going, but as I got a feel for the characters, sometimes I’d just run with dialogue and end up filling the rest of the scene in later. I say “beginning” because I had 10+ drafts of my first chapter; I think I wrote 200,000 words that never made it into the actual novel.
